Family

I specialize in family counselling helping parents who struggle with their children’s behaviour and will meet with one or both parents to help bring a sense of peace into their home. I promote a ‘backbone’ parenting style, as defined by Barbara Colorosso, which focuses on a positive, kind and firm approach to discipline.

Depression and Anxiety

I am trained Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Positive Psychology and Motivational Interviewing to help clients set up achievable goals and find meaning in their life. Life can be restrained to 4 walls when someone suffers from depression or anxiety. My approach aims at taking small steps to break those walls to let the sunshine in and bring a sense of fulfillment back into your life.

conflicts

Most individuals will experience conflicts in their lives, and whether it is with family or friends or at work, it is never pleasant. It is helpful to take a step back and analyze the situation from many points of view. It is also important to accept that we cannot change others, but we can learn to manage our own emotions in a healthy way. There exist communication tools such as “I” statements that can be effective in reducing tension and lead to respectful relationships. We also consider the 4 A’s of Stress Management: Avoid, Alter, Adapt and Accept.
